Glendale Homes for Sale

Glendale Housing Market Trends

The vast majority of Glendale residences are 1950’s bungalow-style homes occupied by owners. One of the unique characteristics of the community is that the current zoning will only allow for single family homes to be built. As such, Glendale has preserved much of its continuity over the course of time as compared to many other inner-city neighborhoods in which there are multi-unit and multi-family projects taking shape around every corner. A small number of the original bungalows have been replaced with larger two-storey single-family homes and this trend is likely to continue with time.

Well the many of homes in the community are original, many have undergone significant renovations on the exteriors and interiors. The inner-city location supports strong and stable property values attracting investors looking to renovate and sell as well as buyers searching for homes in original condition and opportunity to add some “sweat equity”.

Murdoch’s Bar

Murdoch’s Bar and Grill sits unassumingly along 37th Street just South of 17th Ave SW. Named for the original Mayor of Calgary, George Murdoch, the walls of the pub pay homage to a bygone era. The burgers are great, the beer is cold, and Murdoch’s is one of Calgary’s finest pubs for international rugby. You will find it packed many Saturday mornings with happy supports adorned with the colours of their homeland.

Howie’s Pizza

Shaganappi Grocery Store

The Shaganappi Grocery Store is named for a nearby golf course and not for the treasures to be found within. “Little Store of Delights” would be a more appropriate name. Specializing in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare this local spot also offers a diverse selection of produce and a small butcher. When figs are in season they can be purchased at peak freshness and amazing prices!
