As for the other third of sellers, they will go about finding their agent a number of different ways including using the agent they had on the previous sale or calling an agent who is marketing in their neighborhood. No matter how you get your real estate agents names, we suggest you interview at least two if not three agents to make sure you find the right person for the job.

Your real estate agent should have your interests above all else, plain and simple. If you don’t get this feeling from the start, turn around and run for the hills! Your real estate agent is your advocate, your confidant and in some cases, your marriage counselor! If you can’t visualize the person you are interviewing in those roles, perhaps you should continue searching.

In general however, the number one thing you should look for in your real estate agent is, trust. Can you trust this person with your best interests, can you trust them with your single largest financial asset? If the answer is yes, then you can start asking deeper questions like: Are they an expert in my neighborhood? Do they have the skills to market my home to its fullest potential?
